Bill Mueller launched 2 homeruns and Billy Wagner pitched 3 strong innings at
Pro Player Stadium as the Caracas Leones beat the Burbank Tigers 12 to
5.
Mueller had a big day with his bat. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the
2nd inning, laced a single in the 3rd inning and launched a rocket-shot out
of the park for a Grand Slam homerun (his 13th of the season) in the 8th
inning. Caracas had 14 hits for the afternoon while Burbank had 8.
The win was credited to Brandon Backe(5-3) who went 6 innings allowing 5 runs.
Backe was helped out by Wagner who recorded his 22nd save. Jason
Jennings(3-20) was the loser.
'I felt great out there today,' Mueller said, 'Maybe I should make a regular
habit of getting to bed on time!'
